Bayhill Premier Cup – it’s a wrap!

The curtain fell on the 2025 edition of the Bayhill Premier Cup when Ubuntu Football Academy was crowned the 2025 Tournament champions. They beat Randburg AFC 2 - 0 at Athlone Stadium. Read more below:
The 2025 edition of the Bayhill Premier Cup produced some scintillating football – reinforcing its reputation as the most prestigious under-19 soccer tournament in the country.
As is custom, 32 teams from the Western Cape, the rest of the country and abroad, participated.
The knockout stages of the tournament were held at Erica Park in Belhar, with eight groups of four teams who vied for a spot in the round of 16, followed by the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
The finals took place at Athlone Stadium, with more than 6 000 spectators in attendance – a glowing endorsement of the calibre of the competition, and the support for local football.
'This truly is a wonderful example of how organised sporting events can bring out the best in players, but also those cheering from the sidelines. The atmosphere was absolutely electric, and it is clear to see why this tournament holds such prestige. I want to thank each and every one who came out to play, their supporters and also the event organisers for the show they put on. We look forward to seeing you all again next year,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Francine Higham.The Bayhill Premier Cup is an integral part of Cape Town's annual events calendar and even more important to the development of grassroots football in South Africa. It has been a source of pride to watch all the young football players showcase their talent in the Mother City and to witness Cape Town come out to support them as a community. Congratulations to all the winners and well done to all the participants. Keep up the hard work, discipline and resilience. As a player, that goes a long way in your career. We will see you next year,' said Chairperson of the City's Safety and Security Portfolio Committee, Councillor Mzwakhe Nqavashe.
